Develop a Cyber Security product or service with CyberNorth’s Innovation Centre (February & March 2025)

The North East of England needs more businesses – small ones to become medium ones, which eventually become large ones. This cycle starts with ideas that have the potential to become new businesses & the North East simply does not have enough.

So, if you are thinking about starting or growing your own business then get involved in CyberNorth’s Innovation Centre which is completely FREE to attend, thanks to funding from the UK Government’s Department of Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT).

Building on their first successful pilot in 2024, our friends at CyberNorth will be running their second Innovation Centre workshops in February (13th, 20th) & March (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th) 2025.

The accelerator programme offers six, full day, interactive incubator style workshops that will all be held at the Tuspark Eagle Lab co-working space at Maybrook House on Grainger Street in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The programme is as follows:

  • Feb 13 Product – developing a value proposition, testing this in the market, creating a minimum viable product, preparing your market approach
  • Feb 20 Customers – where they are & how to find them, market research, how to get them, how to turn prospects into customers, realising the value of your offer.
  • Mar 6 Company – types of companies & how to set one up, incorporation, governance, legal requirements, structure, intellectual property & business support available locally.
  • Mar 13 Money – managing your business finances, legal obligations & staying compliant, raising funding & stages of funding.
  • Mar 20 People – resilience & looking after yourself, business planning, dealing with conflict. HR policies & processes, recruitment & retention, your partnership & choosing the right people to work with.
  • Mar 27 Summary & Meet the Buyer – academic research & support available – an opportunity to meet cyber security services buyers from local leading businesses.

These workshops will be delivered by highly-regarded professionals in the business support industry. Each will also include an opportunity to hear from & engage with cyber security business owners & leaders. Executive coaching will also be available for all cohort members, as required.

Who is this for?

The CyberNorth Innovation Centre is for anyone who is aged 18 or older who would like to develop a product or service in the Cyber Security sector (all businesses need cyber security). It is ideally aimed at businesses that at either pre-startup or early stage but they can be anywhere from initial concept development or an already incorporated business. Even if you are just interested in starting your own business in the future & have an interest in Cyber Security then you are welcome to take part.

You can be in education, employment or otherwise. As long as the business idea relates to cyber security, in its broadest sense (technical, process, training etc.) & you want help either getting off the ground or finding out whether it’s viable, the Innovation Centre is for you!
